Meet Dr. Lori Openshaw

Dr. Lori Openshaw is a Board Certified Pediatrician (FAAP) that has been practicing pediatrics in Newport Beach/Orange County for 25+ years. She is also a licensed Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) and one of the few pediatricians in Orange County who proudly holds this certification.

Her primary pediatric practice began in Newport Beach in 1995, and her focus has been on the growth & development of the healthy baby, the integration of the young toddler & school aged child, and the successful development of a child into a happy, healthy adult. She has been a member of the Hoag Hospital Medical Staff in the Department of Pediatrics for over 25 years, and is on staff at Saddleback Memorial Hospital, Children’s Hospital of Orange County (CHOC), and Mission Hospital. She has worked as a Lactation Specialist and served on multiple committees for Lactation Support, as well as the development of Baby Friendly Hospitals in Orange County. She loves working with new mothers and fathers, especially working with those seeking parental advice for the best baby care possible. She is excited to bring her expertise in newborn care, lactation, and infant nutrition to her new concierge pediatric practice.

Throughout her years in practice, Dr. Openshaw has built meaningful professional relationships with top pediatric specialists, and has close connections with Orange County hospitals. She is excited to share these connections with her patients in her new practice. 

 

Dr. Lori Openshaw was originally born in Minnesota, then moved with her family throughout the country before settling in Northern California as a young girl. Dr. Openshaw knew from a very young age that she wanted to become a pediatrician. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Physiology/Anatomy from the University of California, Berkeley in 1988. She received her Doctorate of Medicine at George Washington University School of Medicine in 1992, and completed her Pediatric Residency at Children’s Hospital of Northern California (UCSF Benioff) and CHOC Children's Hospital of Orange County in 1995.

Dr. Openshaw is a proud mother of 2, raising both a daughter and son in the Newport Area who attended camps, schools, and numerous local programs in the community. Dr. Openshaw and her family enjoy spending time together with friends, at church, going to the beach, biking, hiking, skiing, and many other outdoor activities. As a mother herself, Dr. Openshaw understands how important it is to know that your child is in caring hands. Providing a kind-hearted environment that is gentle and fun, she loves to make children and parents feel comfortable and help families build a lifetime of healthy habits.
